Back to the Carb Life!
I have nothing negative to say about practicing the Ketogenic diet. In fact I loved parts of it, but it was time to reintroduce carbs back into my system. My body responded pretty crazy the first and second week of doing keto. I noticed when I looked back at photos the week I ended keto, my body was pretty tight and my abs were showing. The last two weeks I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. I noticed that my body was holding a lot of water and it was taking a long time (two weeks to be exact) to normalize and start getting tighter and fuller again while eating carbs. I feel as though my body was temporarily intolerant to carbs and holding onto them like a sponge. Of course since I catch a plane once a week I kept blaming it on flying. 🤣 I can't imagine what it would have done if I would have stayed on it for a longer period of time and then reintroduced carbs back into my system. It reminded me of a slight rebound from competing. Fact is, I love carbs. I enjoy eating carbs and I also like what it does to your body. Not only do carbohydrates provide energy for working muscles, they also assist in enabling fat metabolism. Carbohydrates also need to be present in order for fat to be utilized for energy and glucose from carbs fuels your brain. There are definitely pros and cons from my experience from doing keto. Personally, I don’t think it’s a sustainable lifestyle long term. I love rice, oatmeal, donuts and pizza! This is my third week back doing low fat, moderate carbs and protein and this morning, the pump was real. Something magical happened last night because I woke up shredded and no more lower back fat. Crazy what happens when your body finally normalizes and adjusts. If Keto works for you, DO IT! I switched for a reason.
